Barnett Nefertiti N8

An elite matron with powerful influence and enduring legacy

Barnett Nefertiti N8 is the kind of cow that defines a breeding program. A standout daughter of the renowned G A R Prophet, she combines elite carcass genetics with proven maternal performance, making her one of the most influential and productive females we have ever had the privilege to breed.

Physically, N8 is impressive—a large-framed, deep-bodied cow with massive capacity, structural soundness, and a commanding presence. Her smooth shoulder set, robust topline, and powerful hindquarter are hallmarks of her phenotype, allowing her to pass on both performance and style to her calves with remarkable consistency. Her structure has never faulted, and she continues to carry herself with strength and purpose year after year.

N8’s true strength, however, lies in her ability to produce top-shelf progeny—year in and year out. Her calves rise to the top of each drop, often outperforming their peers in both weight and structural assessment from an early age. Whether bull or heifer, her progeny are born with a strong start and continue to excel through to maturity, with standout performance in weaning weight, yearling growth, and overall phenotype. Her calves are among the first noticed in the paddock and the last to leave your mind.

Due to her consistent results, N8 has become our go-to donor for producing elite replacements and performance sires. Two of her sons have been retained and now reside in leading programs in Victoria, continuing her legacy in herds where performance is paramount. Her daughters are quickly becoming the backbone of our future female herd, adding fertility, functionality, and growth.

Among N8’s greatest achievements is her son, Barnett Command S7—a bull who exemplifies everything we strive to breed. S7 is an absolute powerhouse. He combines muscle, growth, and docility in a complete package. Weighing in at over 1000kg during his working season, S7 covered cows effortlessly while maintaining condition and presence. His progeny are now rising stars in our program—our heaviest and most structurally correct yearlings—many of whom are being prepared for our 2025 Spring Sale, where they are expected to lead the draft.

Barnett Nefertiti N8 is more than just a cow—she is a genetic cornerstone. Her influence runs deep in our herd, and her legacy will continue through generations of high-performing, dependable cattle. She is a true testament to what focused, functional, and high-quality breeding can achieve.

The Working-Class Cow

The Total Package – With Real-World Performance

Barnett Nefertiti S8 is more than just a pretty pedigree—she’s the kind of cow that earns her place in the herd the right way: through performance, consistency, and functionality. Structurally sound, well-balanced, and feminine in design, S8 features a flawless udder, excellent feet, and strong maternal instincts. Quiet-natured and fertile, she has already proven her value with two high-performing natural calves and an outstanding record as an embryo donor.

Her EBVs support everything we see in the paddock—showing strength in growth, carcase merit, fertility, and structure. She’s the kind of female that improves everything she touches.

The Working-Class Cow: What It Really Means

The term “working-class cow” may sound traditional, but in practical breeding, it’s more relevant than ever. A working-class cow is the backbone of any commercial or stud herd—designed to function in real-world conditions without special treatment. She doesn’t need pampering to perform. She just gets the job done.

What defines a working class cow?

Functional:

Proven:

She produces progeny that are productive, sound, and low-maintenance—the kind that deliver returns, not problems.

Reliable:

She calves down consistently, raises robust offspring, and contributes to the genetic progress of the herd every single year.

S8 – A Cow You Can Build On

Barnett Nefertiti S8 is the working-class cow. Her consistent production under standard commercial conditions, combined with the strength of her genetics and her quiet, no-fuss temperament, makes her an invaluable part of our program. She’s the kind of cow that stays in the herd for the long haul, raises top-tier progeny, and improves your bottom line without drawing attention to herself.

In a world full of show ponies, S8 is a workhorse—and we couldn’t be more proud to have her in our paddock.

U87 (1).jpg

Barnett Mittagong U87 (MBA23U87)

A Rising Star with Deep Genetic Foundations

Barnett Mittagong U87 is the total package—looks, data, and proof, all working in harmony. At just two years of age, she has already marked a significant milestone, delivering her first bull calf and stepping confidently into her role as a productive dam. This early achievement highlights her fertility, maternal instinct, and structural integrity—qualities that make her a standout in the paddock and a valuable asset in our breeding program.

U87 is a feminine beauty with enough thickness to make you smile—the kind of cow that draws your eye for all the right reasons. She’s beautifully balanced with a deep body, solid rib, and impressive hindquarter. Though she won’t grow into a large frame cow, her moderate size is part of what makes her so efficient and practical. Her structure mirrors that of her dam, Barnett Disco Girl N5, with that same solid body and soft femininity. She’s the kind of cow that performs with consistency and presence—never overdone, always correct.

Sired by Myers Fair n Square M39 and descending from Strathewen Regent Mittagong J23—the matriarch and founding donor of the Mittagong family—U87 carries forward a lineage defined by elite carcase quality, moderate mature cow weight, and reliable growth. Her pedigree blends performance and functionality, producing cattle that thrive in real-world conditions while delivering exceptional results.

This winter, U87 will join our donor program for in vitro fertilization (IVF), a strategic step to multiply her influence and fast-track her genetics across the herd. Her EBVs reinforce her value, showing strength in carcase merit, growth balance, and maternal efficiency—all traits we consider essential to the future of the breed.

U87 embodies the working-class cow ethos: functional, fertile, and foundational. She has the data, the pedigree, and now the proof. Her future is bright, and her contribution to the Barnett Angus herd is only just beginning.
